On November 22, Thanksgiving 2018, we kicked off our third season of MK Blanket Wraps by handing out blanket wraps to the homeless on the streets of Detroit. In 2016 and 2017, we have handed out at Thanksgiving Dinner events. This year we decided to head directly to the streets of Detroit and find people who were in desperate need of something warm (and colorful too :)). We always let people pick their own blanket wrap. We have many different patterns and colors…we want them to pick something they will enjoy wearing! Giving them the opportunity to pick what THEY like always puts a smile on their face.

In the past 2 years, we have sewn and handed out around 425 blanket wraps. This 2018-2019 winter we are hoping to sew and hand out over 300 blanket wraps in one season. It will be a lot of work but we are up for the challenge! We want to thank the Wyandotte Quilting Group and Ellen Violet Sewing Studio in Illinois for helping us sew blanket wraps over the summer.

If you know if a shelter or other organization that could use our blanket wraps, please email us at info@mkblanketwraps.org. We don’t drop off our blanket wraps. We roll in our racks and let people look through the patterns and colors and select their own. We want it to be like a shopping experience…everyone likes to find something that is meant just for them!

Thank you to everyone who supports us. We couldn’t help as many people as we do without you!
