WHAT IS MK BLANKET WRAPS?
There is a man that sometimes sits on the corner of 12 Mile and Woodward. We sometimes make him lunch, but we wanted to do more for people like him during the winter.

During the summer of 2016, we, Mackenzie (age 13) and Kate (age 11), started to think about what we could do for the homeless during the winter. We wanted to design and make it ourselves. We wanted to give them something soft and colorful. Something that would fit over whatever they were wearing to give them an extra layer of warmth and not fall off their shoulders.

We sketched out a few designs using an old shoulder wrap that belongs to our mom. We redesigned it and added pockets to help keep their hands warm too. We borrowed 2 sewing machines and used our own money to buy the fleece and get our project off the ground. We do everything ourselves and by hand. Every Blanket Wrap is unique.

Our goal was to have 25 Blanket Wraps ready to go for Thanksgiving 2016 and 100 Blanket Wraps for Christmas (we achieved our goals and more!).
